Taaleri Energia is establishing a joint venture with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) for the development of renewable energy projects in Central and Eastern Europe.

The joint venture agreement was signed on 15 January on the sidelines of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) organised in Abu Dhabi and aims to extend the two companies’ ongoing collaboration in the Western Balkans through wind and solar energy projects in Central and Eastern Europe.

Taaleri Energia

has previously invested alongside Masdar in the 158MW Čibuk 1 wind farm in Serbia and the Baynouna Solar Energy Company, which is constructing the largest photovoltaic (PV) plant in Jordan.

“What we’ve accomplished in partnership with Taaleri in Serbia and Jordan is a testament to the important role that strong partnerships play in unlocking access to renewable energy,” said Bader Al Lamki, Masdar’s executive director of clean energy. “We are proud to build on the experiences gained through our strong collaboration, to help countries in Central and Eastern Europe meet their renewable energy goals.”

Part of Taaleri Group, Taaleri Energia develops and invests in wind and solar energy projects and currently manages a one-gigawatt portfolio of renewables assets around the world.

“Working together with Masdar in this joint venture, we will generate high-quality deal flow in Central and Eastern Europe, which will provide the funds that we [use to] manage opportunities to invest in the region in attractive projects with high-calibre investment, financing, equipment and construction partners and counterparties,” commented Kai Rintala, managing director of Taaleri Energia.
