Finland’s Pole Bicycle Company has been internationally recognised for its novel Machine mountain bike.

Pole

has continued its rise in the high-end bike industry, winning a Design & Innovation Award for its performance-charged Machine mountain bike.

“Feels amazing,” says Leo Kokkonen, founder and lead designer. “We’ve put a tremendous amount of hard work into our products and, well, to be frank I’m not surprised.”

The Design & Industry Awards are held annually to celebrate the bike industry’s top-performing products. The contestants go through a rigorous testing process by journalists, professional riders and industry experts.

The Jyväskylä-based company revolutionised bike industry standards a few years ago. The Evolink mountain bike was applauded for its CNC-machined frame and its radically long geometry and stability. The design went on to win a Design & Innovation Award in 2017.

In 2019, Pole is aiming high with growing confidence, supported by a love for mountain biking and the industry’s strong reception to their products.

“We’re coming out with a couple of new bikes this year, including an electric bike,” confirms Kokkonen, of which he envisioned about in our feature a couple of years ago.

To top it off, Pole’s professional enduro race team will compete for the first time in 2019. The team is managed by the grand old man of Finnish downhill cycling – Matti Lehikoinen.

“The enduro team’s goal is to be in the top ten this year and world champions in 2020,” states Kokkonen.
