Finnish firms have wind in sails worldwide
Finnish companies Halton, KONE, Metso and Fortum have all announced new dealings globally.
First to Halton, which will deliver design hoods for a Korean BBQ restaurant onboard Virgin Voyages’ new luxury cruise ship Scarlet Lady. The Finnish company will provide a total of 31 custom-designed, energy-efficient hoods to the Geonbae restaurant, having developed them over two years together with Virgin Voyages and master shipbuilder Fincantieri. In addition, Halton will deliver galley ventilation systems to the cruise ship to be completed in early 2020.
Then on to KONE, which will supply lifts and a destination control system for a new 25-storey office tower in downtown Vancouver, Canada. The Finnish company will deliver a total of 13 lifts to the building described as a living sculpture.
Next in line is Metso, which has assigned SAMI TP, a BMP subsidiary, as its aggregates distributor in northern and western France, including in Brittany, Normandy and Aquitaine, the Paris area and Grand Est. SAMI TP will provide Metso’s mobile crushing and screening products, as well as related wear and spare parts and services, to the aggregates market in the region.
Finally to Fortum, which has announced its wind investment fund, Fortum-Rusnano, has signed a non-binding co-operation agreement with the regional government of Saratov in Russia.
The agreement defines the general principles of co-operation on the construction of wind farms with a total capacity of up to 300 megawatts, whereas the investment decisions are to be taken on a case-by-case basis.
