Ferly gets animated abroad

Finnish animation studio Ferly has announced projects with Paris-based Zephyr, Canadian production company Yellow Animation and UK distributor CAKE.

, Ferly is co-producing a comedy-adventure series called Gone Gills with Zephyr Animation and Yellow Animation. The series follows three prehistoric creatures that find themselves stranded in present day.

“Creating the world of Gone Gills has already been an unforgettable experience for us,” Joonas Rissanen, VP of creative at Ferly, was quoted as saying by Worldscreen. “We cannot wait to collaborate […] and help our prehistoric creatures get used to the present day!”

, the Finnish production studio also announced a new animated adventure series called Kingdom of None. Aiming for a release date of 2021, the 52 11-minute episodes follow the adventures of a group of kids who transform their everyday lives into something more memorable.

The series follows a deal signed with CAKE’s Popcorn Digital arm in October last year, to develop and launch content created by Ferly on YouTube.

Formally known as Kaiken Entertainment, the Finnish company span off from Rovio in 2016, when it became the global master book licensee for Angry Birds under Kaiken Publishing.
