The Finnish technology group Wärtsilä has announced several new contracts for its engines, power plants and ship maintenance services.

The Finnish technology group Wärtsilä has announced several new contracts from various industries in the past week. 

<a href="https://www.wartsila.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wärtsilä</a> is continuing its success with fast-track power plant deliveries in Bangladesh, and the latest order comes from Sri Lanka-based Infra &amp; Engineering, for a 114MW power plant to be installed in Feni, Bangladesh. Wärtsilä has booked 11 power plant deliveries in the country in the past 12 months and already provides 25 per cent of Bangladesh’s grid capacity.

Wärtsilä has also announced a comprehensive 10-year maintenance agreement for Virgin Voyages&#8217; three new cruise ships that will become operational in 2020, 2021 and 2022, respectively. The three ships forming the Virgin Voyages fleet will all be fitted with Wärtsilä&#8217;s engines, hybrid scrubber systems and navigations systems.

The Finnish technology group has also received orders for 33 of its upgraded Wärtsilä 20 engines, to be installed in 11 vessels ordered by China COSCO Shipping and COSCO Shipping Bulk. The orders have been contracted by Wärtsilä Qiyao Diesel Company (WQDC), a joint venture between Wärtsilä and Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute (SMDERI). Increased power input and fuel flexibility have been cited as major factors for the orders.
