Pöyry and YIT win construction projects abroad
Finnish companies Pöyry and YIT have won and successfully completed engineering and construction projects around Europe and in the Philippines.
First to Pöyry, which has completed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) assignment for the fuel handling system of a 150MW circulating fluidized bed (CFB) power plant on Panay island, the Philippines. The plant is owned by Panay Energy Development Corporation, a subsidiary of Philippine energy company Global Business Power Corporation.
Pöyry has also been awarded an engineering services assignment from Swiss Federal Railway for the design and execution of railway infrastructure at Zurich Wipkingen in Switzerland. The assignment entails the maintenance of bridges, viaducts, a tunnel, tracks and the station, some of which are historical and heritage-listed.
Meanwhile, YIT has signed an agreement with Latvia-based retail operator Rimi for the construction and renovation of a warehouse complex in Latvia’s capital, Riga. The contract is worth around 37 million euros, with construction set to start in the beginning of December and be completed at the end of May 2020. The scope of the project includes the construction of a new 37 000 square-metre warehouse building, including a cold store area and an office, and the renovation of a 27 500 square-metre warehouse.
