JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Jyväskylä, Finland, will co-operate with Dubai Municipality to strengthen nutrition and food safety programmes in Dubai, the UAE.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the co-operation was signed between <a href="https://www.jamk.fi/en/Home/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">JAMK</a> and the Dubai Municipality Food Safety Department during the 12th Dubai International Food Safety Conference (DIFC).

The agreement will see JAMK collaborate on conducting seminars, study tours, conferences, educational activities and joint development projects in the field of food in Dubai, especially focusing on food safety, nutrition and sustainability.

&#8220;I’m happy that we have got [an] opening in a demanding market area,&#8221; says Minna-Maaria Hiekkataipale, who signed the MoU on behalf of JAMK. &#8220;This demonstrates well that JAMK is a recognised expert and sought-after partner in research focusing on nutrition.&#8221;

Promoting happiness in the Dubai community is also a central theme of the collaboration, with Finland’s reputation as the ‘<a href="https://www.goodnewsfinland.com/un-report-finland-happiest-in-the-world/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">happiest country in the world</a>’ being key to the agreement, according to JAMK.

The collaboration in Dubai is JAMK&#8217;s latest international endeavour, with the Finnish university having recently engaged in collaboration projects in Nepal and Ethiopia, and ramped up its <a href="https://www.goodnewsfinland.com/jamk-ramps-up-education-co-op-with-kazakhstan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">joint masters programme in nursing in Kazakhstan</a>.
