Hisome picked up by PlayStack
Finnish game developer Hisome has moved to majority ownership of London-based game publisher PlayStack, for an undisclosed sum.
Hisome, renamed as PlayStack Oy, will focus on developing new game titles and seeking out funding and development partners in the Nordic, Baltic and Russian regions.
PlayStack Oy will be helmed by general manager Juha Huhtakallio, a Finnish game industry veteran with more than 30 awards across 100 titles under his belt and experience from big Finnish game studios, including Kuuasema and Housemarque.
“Our partnership with Juha and his incredibly talented team is a further signal of our commitment to publishing the best games as well as harnessing the rich developer talent that is so highly evident in the Nordic, Baltic and Russian region,” says Harvey Elliott, CEO of PlayStack, in a press release. “This acquisition gives PlayStack a firm foothold in the region as well as an award-winning and talented team in our new Helsinki offices to create some amazing games and technologies.”
PlayStack offers game developers end-to-end funding, publishing expertise and technology. Its biggest hits to date include chart-topping mobile game Snipers vs Thieves and Playstation VR title Dick Wilde.
