Fortnite creator Epic Games acquires Kamu

Helsinki-based Kamu is now part of Epic, the games studio behind such hits as Fortnite, Unreal, Gears of War, Shadow Complex and the Infinity Blade series.

Kamu

helps developers protect their game experiences and manage player satisfaction via its Easy Anti-Cheat service, which is used by more than 80 games and over 100 million gamers worldwide. The company supports the live management of player satisfaction, community building and game integrity.

According to Epic, Kamu’s team and tools have been key to building a vibrant and fair Fortnite multiplayer experience.

“Joining the Epic family is not only a childhood dream come true, but a huge boost for our mission to help developers create beautiful gaming experiences,” saysSimon Allaeys, CEO of Kamu. “Battling cheating in games was just the start; today our products also help developers stay competitive by identifying player needs as quickly as they emerge.”

After the acquisition, Kamu will continue to expand its services in support of all customers and all of the engines they’ve chosen. Meanwhile, Epic’s new Helsinki presence will serve as a base for recruiting technology, engine and online service developers in Finland.
