Finnish films screen in Mexico

Running until 19 April, the series of film kicked off with Dome Karukoski’sTom of Finland on 12 April.

Other recent films being screened include Mika Taanila‘s Tectonic Plate (Mannerlaatta), Katja Gauriloff’sKaisa and the Enchanted Forest (Kuun metsän Kaisa), Joonas Berghäll’sMother’s Wish (Äidin toive) and the winner of Un Certain Regard at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival: The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki (Hymyilevä mies).

Three Finnish classics are also being introduced during the week: Risto Jarva’s Time of Roses (Ruusujen aika, 1969), Mikko Niskanen’s 8 Fatal Shots (Kahdeksan surmanluotia, 1972) and Mika Kaurismäki’s Tigrero – A Film That Was Never Made (1994)

The short-film collection focuses on art cinema, and particularly on the work of Sámi actors.
