Finnish companies deliver the goods worldwide

From forklifts to rock foundation technology, Finnish companies offer the goods. Kalmar

Five Finnish industrial heavyweights, namely Kalmar, Fortum, Nokia, Peikko, and Caverion, have won orders from around the world.

First up is Kalmar, part of Cargotec, which has delivered three Kalmar Essential Forklifts to the Port of Dalian in China. The order was placed by the Dalian Port Corporation, and the delivery was made in conjunction with a local partner.

Next in line is Fortum, which will provide environmental performance technology to a power plant in Edenkerry, Ireland. The Finnish energy company signed a low-nitrogen oxide (NOx) combustion technology agreement with Irish company Bord na Móna that covers a whole turnkey solution for the 128-MW power plant fuelled by a mixture of peat and biomass.

Then onto Peikko, which has received a substantial order for rock foundation technology to be delivered to a wind power project in Northern Norway. The order came from Sørfjord Vindpark, which is fully owned by Fortum, and it covers all the steel components for the 23 foundations of the Sørfjord wind park, as well as foundation design and structural calculations.

Next up is Nokia, with its Chinese subsidiary Nokia Shanghai Bell having won the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) optical transport network (OTN) project for Beijing and Tianjin. Nokia will upgrade SGCC’s transport network from 10Gb/s to beyond 100Gb/s in the two Chinese metropolises by basing it on its in-house innovative PSE chipset.

Finally to Caverion, which has signed an energy performance contracting (EPC) agreement with the Swedish municipality Nordanstig and company Nordanstig Bostäder. The long-term agreement covers 108 000 square metres of publicly owned buildings, where Caverion will increase energy efficiency and improve indoor climate by modernising heating and sanitation, ventilation and air conditioning, and cooling, electricity and automation systems.
