Etteplan plants additional roots in China

The move relates to a deal with a major state-owned Chinese company that is buying technical documentation services from Etteplan.

Aside from Qingdao in the Shandong province on the east coast, Etteplan has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Kunshan, Suzhou and Xi’an and employs more than 300 people. This presence is strategically positioned to take advantage of Chinese companies seeking deeper participation in the global market as part of a government push.

Labour costs have increased substantially in China recently. Chinese companies are now changing their mode of operations and have started to procure expert services from external sources. The service market has thus started to open up, and the demand for automation, outsourcing and service models that buffer the cyclic nature of production has increased.

“There is huge potential in the market, providing substantial opportunities for an engineering services company such as Etteplan,” says president and CEOJuha Näkki. “Etteplan has been operating in China since 2004, and we intend to continue investing in this market well into the future.”

The company provides industrial equipment and machinery engineering services, embedded systems, and IoT and technical documentation solutions.
