Latvian airline Air Baltic has announced new afternoon flights between Latvia’s capital Riga and the Finnish city of Turku for the spring and summer seasons.

The new afternoon flights will be operated four days a week starting in March 2019, and will complement the morning and evening flights already in place between the two cities.

In Turku, the new flights are seen as a sign of an improved economic situation and reflect the growing number of passengers utilising Turku Airport.

“The new flights are an indication of the appeal of the Turku area and its positive structural change,” says the mayor of Turku, Minna Arve. “Airlines have detected increased use of the airport and want to improve their own services there.”

Latvia’s capital Riga is a major connection hub that offers flights to dozens of destinations such as London, Milan, Berlin and Brussels. Other direct flight destinations from Turku Airport are Mariehamn, Stockholm and Gdansk.

The new service between Turku and Riga will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
