Aalto among world’s top 10 young universities

The Finnish university was the third-highest ranked European university on the list.

Since its establishment in 2010, Aalto University has made huge strides forward in many areas. A key one has been internationalisation, and according to a recent Times Higher Education comparison Aalto is now the 55th most international university in the world.

The number of peer-reviewed international publications from the university has also increased by 50 per cent, and there are now four times as many European Research Council grant recipients at Aalto than there were in 2010.

“The Aalto community has done exemplary work – the entire community deserves credit for our success,” says president of Aalto University, Ilkka Niemelä, in a release.

This year’s top three young universities are all from Asia, with Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University claiming the top spot once again, followed by second-placed Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and third-placed Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

The QS Top 50 Under 50 ranking is based on the influential QS World University Rankings, where Aalto placed 140th worldwide.
