Finnish universities offer world-class education

Six disciplines from the University of Jyväskylä made the world’s top 500, including pedagogy, sports and physics.University of Jyväskylä

The newly released QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 features a number of Finnish universities ranked among the best in the world in certain disciplines.

Aalto University

has been climbing the subject-specific listing, with its art and design faculty now ranking seventh in the world, its architecture department 42nd and business department in the top 100.

The University of Helsinki remains a prominent presence among Finnish universities, ranking in the top 50 in a number of disciplines: philosophy (21st), education and training (30th), agriculture and forestry (43rd), and anthropology (48th).

Meanwhile, the Sibelius Academy is setting the bar high for performing arts at 10th place worldwide, whereas nursing education ranked highly at the University of Eastern Finland (49th) and University of Turku (51–100 range).

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 evaluated universities across 48 disciplines based on academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, and the productivity and impact of published papers. It included 1 222 universities from 151 countries.
